As an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and nursing educator, I am committed to supporting the education and professional development of future psychiatric providers. Jona Psychiatry offers select clinical preceptorship opportunities for qualified PMHNP students seeking supervised experience in outpatient psychiatric care.
Clinical experiences may include:
- Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
- Diagnostic formulation
- Treatment planning
- Psychopharmacology and medication management
- Patient education
- Longitudinal psychiatric care
Emphasis is placed on evidence-based practice, clinical reasoning, professional communication, ethical practice, and compassionate, patient-centered care.
Practicing across Maryland and Washington, DC
Nurse practitioner scope of practice, prescriptive authority and collaboration requirements differ between the two, and they are set by each jurisdiction's own board rather than by this practice.
Maryland
Maryland Board of Nursing. Confirm current licensure requirements, prescriptive authority and continuing education directly with the Board.
Washington, DC
DC Board of Nursing, under the Department of Health. Requirements differ from Maryland's, including on controlled substance registration.
Rotation details
Clinical rotation information is available upon request.
Screening instruments
The PHQ-9 for depression, the GAD-7 for anxiety, and the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale are used routinely here. Students should be comfortable administering and scoring all three before the rotation begins.
