Terms of Use
The terms on which this website is provided. Short, and worth reading if you are relying on anything here.
Effective date: to be confirmed at launch
By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
In plain English
- Everything on this site is general education, not advice about you.
- Reading it, or sending a message, does not make you a patient.
- This site is not monitored around the clock. In a crisis call 911, or call or text 988.
- We can only treat people physically located in Maryland, DC or Virginia.
- Do not send us confidential clinical detail by email or web form.
1This website is not medical advice
Everything published here, including the blog and the pages describing conditions and treatments, is general information. It is not a diagnosis, not a treatment recommendation, and not advice about your particular situation. It cannot account for your history, your other conditions or the medication you take.
Never delay seeking care, or stop or change a treatment, because of something you read here. Talk to a qualified clinician who knows your case.
2No provider and patient relationship
Reading this website, sending an appointment request, or submitting a question through the blog does not create a provider and patient relationship. That relationship begins only when the practice has accepted you as a patient and you have completed the intake process.
Until then, nothing sent through this site should be relied on as clinical guidance, and nothing here should be treated as a commitment to provide care.
3Emergencies
This website, its forms and the practice inbox are not monitored around the clock, and this practice does not provide emergency or crisis services.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. For free, confidential support at any hour, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Do not use this website to report an emergency.
4Where we are licensed to treat you
Dr. Asfaw is licensed in Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia. Care, in person or by video, can only be provided where you are physically located in one of those three at the time of the appointment.
That is a licensing requirement, not a practice preference, and it applies even if you normally live in one of them but happen to be elsewhere that day. This website being visible in other places does not mean the practice can treat you there.
5Accuracy and currency
The content here is prepared carefully and reviewed by a licensed clinician, but medicine changes and pages are not rewritten the moment guidance shifts. Articles carry a publication date. Treat older material accordingly.
Fees, insurance participation and office details can change. Confirm anything you intend to rely on by contacting the practice directly.
6Links to other websites
Some pages link to external sites, such as professional directories, universities and government bodies. Those sites are not controlled by this practice, and a link does not mean everything on the other site is endorsed. Their content and privacy practices are their own responsibility.
7Content and ownership
The text, articles, design, logo and layout of this website belong to Jona Psychiatry, except where noted. You may read, print and share pages for your own personal, non-commercial use, including giving a copy to a family member or clinician.
You may not republish the content commercially, present it as your own, or use it to train a model or build a derivative service, without written permission. Photography is licensed stock and may not be extracted for separate use.
8Acceptable use
Please do not use this website to:
- Send unlawful, abusive, threatening or deliberately false material.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system, or to disrupt or overload the site.
- Harvest addresses or personal information from the site.
- Impersonate another person, including a patient or a clinician.
9Questions you send us
The blog invites general questions about the topics covered. If you send one:
- Keep it general. Do not include personal medical detail, and do not use it to ask about your own treatment. Email is not a secure channel.
- A question may be published, in edited form, with an answer, where it would help other readers. Your name and contact details are never published. If you would rather your question was not published at all, say so and it will not be.
- Answers are general education, and are subject to sections 1 and 2 of these terms.
- Questions are read during working hours only. Never send anything urgent this way.
10Availability
This website is provided on an as-available basis. It may be unavailable during maintenance or because of a fault, and no guarantee of uninterrupted access is given. Appointments and clinical matters are handled by telephone, and the practice can always be reached that way.
11Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jona Psychiatry is not liable for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, this website's general information, or from any inability to access it.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for the clinical care actually provided to a patient of the practice, and nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
12Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland and applicable federal law, without regard to conflict of law rules. Nothing here affects any right you have under the consumer protection laws of the state in which you live.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
13Changes
These terms may be updated. The current version, with its effective date, is always published on this page, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
